Default The Heroes

I got my copy of PC Gamer yesterday and there was a side thing about the Heroes and a small description of each of them. Of the 12, it only really lists the professions of 2 of them, with a hint at another, Goren (slow, solid and dependable) a warrior? Acolyte Jin is an assassin (A quiet, deadly member of the Zaishen Order), Acolyte Sousuke is an Ele (an excitable Elementalist). What I’m wondering is, what are the others? Has anyone read anything else about this or maybe it’s one of each of the professions? Or maybe you have some idea’s of what they are or what you'd like them to be. Read the descriptions below and post your thoughts.

Note: I was hoping to add a link from official GW site or PC Gamer so you could read the descriptions, but there is nothing. The PCG site still has the Sept issue as it's online issue. So I’m going to type them out here. Mods,if it is violating any copyright laws, let me know and I’ll remove them and everyone will have to refer to their own copy of PCG.

KOSS
A cheerful, boisterous fellow Sunspear,Koss has almost as much faith in you as he does in himself.

MELONNI
A dedicated foe of the leaders of neighboring Kourna, Melonni has the annoying habit of always being right.

DUNKORO
An older advisor within the Order of the Sunspears, Dunkoro is the man with the plan.

ACOLYTE JIN
A quiet, deadly member of the Zaishen Order, Jin seeks a suitable teacher.

ACOLYTE SOUSUKE
An excitable Elementalist of the Zaishen Order, Sousuke always seeks to learn from his experience.

MASTER OF WHISPERS
The Master is a man of mystery, his true name unspoken, his motives unrevealed. You, however, are instrumental to his plans.

ZHED SHADOWHOOF
A member of the centaur race with serious reservations about working with hated humans, Zhed must put ancient enmities aside to face a greater enemy.

TAHLKORA
A headstrong young runaway, Tahlkora joins up with you to become a hero. She has to learn what that truly means.

MAGRID THE SLY
A mercenary corsair, Magrid sees you first as potential targets and only later as allies.

NORGU
An actor who never met an adventure (or a buffet table) he didn’t like.

GOREN
A slow, solid, dependable bodyguard who makes up for what he lacks in wits with an ironclad devotion.

MORGHAN
A former general in the service of the Kourna, Morghan is betrayed by his allies and seeks vindication with your aid.

Norgu, mesmer -->"An actor"..
Melonni, Paragon as well -->"A foe of the leader"..

I'm glad I'm not the only one obsessed with this. I've been trying to figure out who these people are!

What I can deduce so far:

According to a Swedish game magazine, Koss is the first hero you'll meet, and he's a Warrior.

I agree, Goren sounds like a Warrior.

Norgu: Actor = Mesmer?

Magrid the Sly: could be anything, even a Necro

Tahlkora: Someone had the interesting theory that this could be Gwen. I doubt it, but it's fun to think about. She could be a Warrior, Ranger, Dervish, Paragon, or anything, really.

Zhed Shadowhoof The only non-human Hero we know about, he's probably a Warrior or Ranger, but could be a Necro? (Shadowhoof?)

Master of Whispers Pictured in the mag, he looks like a Necro, (look at his stance more than his armor), and sounds like one too!

Acolyte Jin Assassin is possible, but this is Nightfall, and so I think it's unlikely to have a Hero of a class in Factions. Plus, her armor looks "Ranger" to me (who would also be "quiet and deadly").

Dunkoro screams Monk to me.

Melonni could be a Paragon.

(sorry I did this list backwards)

Yes, this is the American November issue 154.

Magrid sounds like an Assassin. We'll have to see if they put any Assassin NPCs in the game.

Master of Whispers gives an image of a ritualist, but this is Nightfall so I'm little bit doubtful with that .

Haven't yet seen the magazine, so I don't have the whole picture of this though.

The more I think about it, the Master of Secrets IS a Necro.

I'm looking at his picture right now (page 42), and his stance is Necro (head tilted down, hands in "claw" formation.)

Plus, I've seen pictures of the Female Necro armor in Nightfall, and it looks more like Elemental armor, too.

I definately had questions after reading the article. As a matter of fact, I think the article raised more questions than it answered.

Yeah, I saw that too.....one could always hope! I always liked Gwen, I don't understand all the animosity involved with her. If you didn't want her to follow you around, then don't click on her. Problem solved.

Oooh......I like that! I never even considered the name, but now that you mention it, it definately sounds like a ranger.

Why do you think they wouldn't incorporate professions from Factions? They carried all over from the original GW, so why not the Factions professions?

All I pray for is that the heroes are AFFORDABLE. The way they've been written about lately, they sound very expensive, as they have to be equipped and skill trained as you do. This clashes with the basic idea that most of the people who will use Heroes extensively are those (like me) who play casually with just a couple other friends. We don't farm and can barely afford to keep up on our own armor and skills, let alone a hero's.

I agree. I hope there weapons and armor automatically upgrade into at least usable stuff, I don't want to have to craft (or buy!) max armor and weapons for 3 heroes (unless I want to. The option should be there for those who want to, of course.)

Well, now that Assassin and Ritualist skills and armor have been confirmed to be in Nightfall, I think you're right. It's very possible there will be a Ritualist and Assassin hero.

However, I still think that Jin looks like a Ranger, and the Master of Secrets looks like a Necro. I mean, look at the armor, and their stance...

(there's even a Ranger on the next page after Jin, so you can easily compare her stance...)

But, maybe Zhed Shadowhoof is a Centaur Assassin!

<slaps forhead> DOH! I really have to learn to look a little harder.

Thanks for that, it's good to see pics, but still hard (I think) to figure out by armor since it is all Nightfall armor.

IF they have that one as an assassin... Im going to bet my money that Zhed will be a centaur ritualist.

Hmmmmm....
I was just so excited to read the whole article that I really didn't pay much attention to details.

My guess...

KOSS
A cheerful, boisterous fellow Sunspear.... A warrior like somebody pointed out.

MELONNI
A dedicated foe of the leaders of neighboring Kourna, Melonni has the annoying habit of always being right............. sounds like a Monk to me.

DUNKORO
An older advisor within the Order of the Sunspears, Dunkoro is the man with the plan. .... A Paragon, leading the troops and planning from the rear.

ACOLYTE JIN
A quiet, deadly member of the Zaishen Order, Jin seeks a suitable teacher.... an Assasin, quiet and deadly.

ACOLYTE SOUSUKE
An excitable Elementalist of the Zaishen Order, Sousuke always seeks to learn from his experience..... mmmmm I definitely CAN'T figure this one out.

MASTER OF WHISPERS
The Master is a man of mystery, his true name unspoken, his motives unrevealed. You, however, are instrumental to his plans.... sounds like a Mesmer.

ZHED SHADOWHOOF
A member of the centaur race with serious reservations about working with hated humans, Zhed must put ancient enmities aside to face a greater enemy..... Shadow.... Dark Arts.... Necro.

TAHLKORA
A headstrong young runaway, Tahlkora joins up with you to become a hero. She has to learn what that truly means..... no clue, but by looking at what proffessions are left... I say a Ranger.

MAGRID THE SLY
A mercenary corsair, Magrid sees you first as potential targets and only later as allies.... a Dervish.

NORGU
An actor who never met an adventure (or a buffet table) he didn’t like... definitely a mesmer.

GOREN
A slow, solid, dependable bodyguard who makes up for what he lacks in wits with an ironclad devotion..... sounds like a Ritualist, they got your back!!

MORGHAN
A former general in the service of the Kourna, Morghan is betrayed by his allies and seeks vindication with your aid.... sounds like A Paragon, a general.

Just guessing on most of them!!! The whole campaign sounds awesome. I am really looking forward to playing. They have come up with some awesome additions. I personally love the Character Tabs, no more mapping to change secondaries or builds.
